Formed in the year 1984, the vicinity is spread across 1,500 acres of land and sits between Hosur and Sarjapur Road. HSR Layout is divided into seven sectors and some parts of the neighboring towns such as Agara, Parangipalya, Venkatapura, Mangammanapalya, and Hosapalya are also part of it.
